Friends, School, and Work
Youth today have more stress in their lives than ever.
Trying to fit in, keep up, and know what you want to do with your life--
where does faith fit in?

FRIENDS
What is a Friend?Big or small, it's actions that seem to count the most in friendship. In a time when we can chat effortlessly by text and IM, talk is getting cheaper. Many of you believe that the evidence of true friends is what they do to show
their loyalty, honesty, trustworthiness, or willingness to make a sacrifice when you need help. |
Trying to Fit in
Is it okay to want to fit in to make friends?
When does being trendy seem to go to far?
How does knowing God is with you help you in situations where you seem to "walk differently"?

SCHOOL
Take Love--Making a difference at School
What if I fail my exams?Do you get nervous waiting for your exam results? Maybe you can’t eat because your stomach is churning so much. You keep wondering about a whole bunch of questions:

What should a Christian look like at school? It's easy to pray and talk about God at church, because everyone
there is doing it. That's where the whole gathering is about Jesus. But when we get outside the church, everything changes and we're all of a sudden in the minority, or at least we feel like it. |
WORK
"What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word job? Are you consumed with negative thoughts? Many teenagers find their jobs to be tiring and boring. It's easy to get in a rut, to feel negative. It is important not to settle for a job but to search for our work. Our work will have the characteristics that bring us happiness and fulfillment."

A PRAYER
Gracious and Loving God, I give you thanks for this day for the gift of my present work. I hold in prayer those who are jobless and those who have yet to discover their work. I hold in prayer the young people throughout the world and in my own community who must have a job to help their families and who, therefore, cannot continue their studies.
Have mercy on me for the times I have failed to love,
I praise you for giving me the opportunities to share in the work of
re-creating this world. My prayer is that my work makes the world
a little more just,
a little more peaceful, and
a little more hospitable for everyone. Amen
